Modern, ranch-style lodging offering rustic-chic rooms, suites & treehouses, plus pools & a spa.
This place is one of a kind special. This was the most relaxing vacation I have been to in my life. The staff anticipated and took care of any of my wishes, in many cases anticipating that need before I knew. Beautiful grounds, in particular, Billy's Trail which is majestic. The spa service was absolutely top notch, did I forget to mention the amazing meals delivered to your room or taken at the most beautiful restaurant I have ever been to. The falconry experience was the most memorable. Truly amazing experience.
Been staying here 20 years. It’s on a slow decline. “Newer” rooms are subjectively rather ugly, restaurant is predictable but not amazing really. Hotel and restaurant staff are clearly loyal, friendly but the cheapest option, all the talent is gone. At Aman prices it just doesn’t deliver that experience. Too many shortcuts and profits being squeezed. It needs new vision, management, and an overhaul returning to its roots. A good old fashioned look in the mirror as it were. At breakfast I asked for hot sauce and they brought Cholula in a ramekin. All that fancy kitchen and they don’t even bother to make their own hot sauce. They got rid of the breakfast buffet. They had out some sad Cisco white bread blueberry muffin mix muffins. Gone are the exquisite healthy foods crafted with care. The only thing I smelled in the restaurant was profits. Thank god for reviews so we can give honest and direct feedback. Maybe they can get back on track
We had a phenomenal stay here !! The service and attention to the guests is above and beyond! They also are offering a pillow menu , including pregancy pillow ! We slept very well at night -the mattress was amazing and firm , outside it was very quiet at night and no light pollution ! Snacks in the room are delicious and healthy! Also breakfast was amazing too ! We would love to come back in the future ❤️
My lunch at Post Ranch Inn's incredible restaurant "Sierra Mar" was a a truly memorable culinary experience. I enjoyed the most incredible multiple course meal with expert wine pairings while overlooking the stunning Pacific Ocean from the mountain top right from my seat. The staff was so incredibly warm and took my allergies very seriously, modifying the set lunch menu to fit my needs exactly and feeding me to my heart's content! I truly loved every second of this experience and cannot wait to come back!
Post Ranch Inn has one of the most dramatic locations of any hotel I have visited. The Pacific sits hundreds of feet below the property's edge, and the sheer vertical scale is remarkable even by Big Sur standards. The resort brings you into direct contact with that landscape while maintaining a sense of calm that feels appropriate to the setting. Our room was toward the spa on the forest side of the road. I believe it was one of the treehouses. My memory of the precise room category is hazy, and the structures may have changed since our stay. The room felt earthy, cozy, and private, with the character of a hut tucked into the landscape. Much of our time centered on the meditation pool (hot tub?) overlooking the ocean, easily one of the most dramatic places I have ever soaked and done absolutely nothing. We also ate breakfast inside Sierra Mar, where the dining room, water, and neighboring pool came together in a view that was almost difficult to process. The food was expensive, as nearly everything here is, but the setting gave the meal a sense of occasion. Throughout the stay, the resort encouraged the kind of quiet attention that Big Sur deserves. Oddly, one of my clearest memories is the water bottle the hotel gave us, in a color somewhere between light brown, rust, and burnt orange. I kept it and used it for years, a modest object that continued to remind me of an extraordinary place. Post Ranch Inn is unquestionably a major splurge, yet its appeal is easy to understand: the architecture recedes, the landscape takes over, and ordinary time seems to slow down. For an outdoor person with the budget to make it work, this is a singular experience.
