Hotel is in a nice location, rooms are comfortable. Restaurant has delicious food. Staff is beyond helpful honest and efficient. I left my passport and some cash in the room safe. Hotel staff contacted me as soon as they found it. I was 6 hours away, they arranged (for a fee) that passport and cash was delivered to me in a few hours. Exceptional service. I really appreciated it. Would definitely stay here again.

A gorgeous hotel right in the heart of the historic district. Service was awesome, beautiful courtyards and artistically decorated. Rooms were always cleaned as soon as we left in the mornings by really honest staff.

Highly recommend this hotel! When I was searching for hotels in San Miguel, I noticed there are many different kinds of opinion for this one. But once I checked in, I realized how stunning it is. I really want to share my experience so others can use it as a reference. From the very first moment I stepped into Hacienda El Santuario, I felt that this was not just a hotel—it was like walking into a living folk museum. I heard that there are over 1,000 pieces of Mexican folk art displayed throughout the property. The front desk was very thoughtful. Upon arrival, I was invited to pick a handmade soap crafted by the hotel itself and a small basket with fruits. Each bar looked beautiful and smelled completely natural. Then came a refreshing welcome drink—options like guava, passionfruit, or horchata—all made in-house. It instantly took away my travel fatigue. Later in the evening, I was even given a cocktail voucher to enjoy at the bar decorated with colorful murals. The bartender was very warm and friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed. The room looked exactly like the photos—no disappointment at all. The vaulted brick ceiling and warm lighting gave it both a historic and cozy feel. From the window, I could see the greenery and flowers in the courtyard. Each room has its own unique style, so it feels like every stay could be a different experience. I personally prefer bright rooms with plenty of sunlight, so I chose one of those—and it was truly beautiful. You can tell how much care has gone into every detail of the room. (Just a small tip: if you are sensitive to noise, avoid rooms too close to the main hall, as it can be a bit lively in the morning.) The hotel itself is very large, and simply walking around feels like exploring an exhibition. The hallways and walls are filled with folk art and handmade crafts, each with its own story. It really feels like spending the night in a cultural museum. All the staff were extremely friendly and proactive in helping us. Before arriving, I had seen a few mixed reviews online, but after experiencing it myself, I can honestly say my stay was far beyond expectations. This is truly a hotel that puts heart into every detail. Extra note on location: The hotel is perfectly located in the historic center of San Miguel de Allende—just a few minutes’ walk to the iconic Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel (the famous pink church) and the main square. It makes exploring the city incredibly convenient, with restaurants, shops, and galleries all nearby.

The hotel and room were gorgeous. However the service was very poor. The front desk told us we were welcome to leave our luggage with them and they would load it into our car for us. They forgot a bag. It was difficult to get a hold of anyone, and even more difficult to get them to return the calls. Once we were able to get ahold of them, they told us we would have to pay 165$CAD for the delivery of our items. We contacted FEDEX who told us the delivery would cost significantly less than that, for the size of our package. Overall, incredibly disappointing service from such a beautiful location.

What a wonderful gem in the middle of SMA, close to everything. The rooms are lovely with a sincere SMA vibe. The grounds are like a botanical garden with a restaurant and a super cool bar. Drinks are amazing, the mixologist Ulises is wonderful. Best Mescalarita in town! Don’t miss this fabulous opportunity in SMA.
