Villa Santa Maria

0/5 Stars – Terrible Experience, AVOID at All Costs! We booked a 3-night stay at Villa Santa Maria in Amalfi and it turned into an absolute nightmare. Our train was delayed (common in Italy), so we arrived later than planned. Instead of showing any flexibility or understanding, the staff were extremely rigid about their policies and refused us a late check-in. After a long, exhausting travel day in the summer heat, they literally left us on the side of the road with our luggage. No help finding alternatives, no compassion — just "sorry, policy." They even told us not to come back for the remaining two nights we had already paid for in full. They kept our money with no refund whatsoever. We had to scramble to find another hotel last minute, ending up paying double the price just to have somewhere to stay. The stress and extra cost completely ruined our trip. This place has zero customer service. They took our money and provided nothing in return. Do not book with Villa Santa Maria — look elsewhere if you want reliability and basic human decency. Terrible experience from start to finish.

The hotel is super in every sense and the rate is very reasonable. There is a private access to the crystal clear water of Amalfi. Breakfast is great. Parking can be arranged as well if you are driving. Getting access to the property can be a challenge if you are not reasonably fit as there is a long flight of stairs.

CAREFUL-ABSOLUT SCAM: We booked a 5 nights stay at this property. However we were unable to arrive before their 8:00pm check-in time. We tried to find a solution with them, for a whole week but they absolutely refused to provide us with any kind of solution. Therefore we booked another hotel for the first night. We informed the Villa Santa Maria that we would keep our whole reservation, still paying for the first night and arrive the next morning. They told us they would not check us in the next day, that our check-in window was the first day between 2:00 and 8:00pm. They denied us our whole stay, while we were still coming, and refused any kind of discussion or reimbursment.

A beautiful luxury villa just a short trip from the main centre of Amalfi, it is perfectly located just away from the main centre so you can take in those magical views without all the crowds. A lovely group of staff who care for you and your stay, provide great recommendations for food and points of interest. The room itself is clean, spacious and very well kept. Had a fantastic time.

We stayed in March and Asia charged us the tourist tax in cash, even though we later discovered online that it didn't apply in March. We've written requesting a refund, but they haven't replied. It's a rip-off. In addition, the breakfast was quite poor quality, the parking is managed by a man who takes your car and after 7 pm you can no longer use it to go into town, and it costs €40 per night. Access with luggage involves climbing almost 100 steps. The rooms are old.
