R Lazy S Ranch

I grew up coming to the ranch, and twenty plus years later, it’s the same in all the right ways. The staff is so kind, helpful, and truly accommodating. While you can leave the property, there is no need to with daily activities as well as morning and afternoon horseback riding through the national park. You’ll create a wonderful bond with your horse by the end of the week, you won’t want to leave. It’s a place of serenity and beauty- the Tetons right in view and the wildlife that surrounds you. I cannot recommend RLazyS enough. It’s great for couples, families, and single folks. Kids have to be a certain age to be there and able to ride a horse, but they are managed by a “kiddie wrangler” throughout the week. So for those worried and/or don’t want to be around the kids, you’ll have the separation you’re looking for. The food is fantastic, and no, it’s not the hamburgers and hotdogs you would think of while camping. The quality and variety of the food is great, and there are always snacks about during non-meal times. Are the cabins nice? Yes. Are they “luxury”? No. But are you really coming to a dude ranch for luxury? BYO toiletries (including shampoo and conditioner) and any other snacks or beverages you may want. While there’s no A/C in the cabins, the cool nightly temperatures even in the summer cool things right down. While WiFi is available, I would recommend spending your down time playing the many games available in the lodge or enjoying one of the many books with a beautiful view in front of you.

My wife and I spent a week at the R Lazy S for the fifteenth consecutive year. It was, as always, delightful and memorable. Every aspect of the experience and the ranch’s operations is superior. The accommodations are clean, comfortable, and secure; the entire staff is professional, very friendly, competent, and enormously helpful; the activities are diverse, entertaining, and fun; the location and scenery are unsurpassed; the meals are delicious and interesting; and the horses are spectacular and able to match any level of riding experience and expertise. We saw lots of wildlife - moose, elk, deer, and coyotes - both on trail rides and on the ranch itself. Grandchildren joined us, as they Have for the past five years, and they love it as much as we do. The children’s program is marvelous - it constantly entertains, inspires, and exhausts (yay!) the kids. I can recommend the R Lazy S enthusiastically for anyone looking for the best family vacation imaginable.

It is hard to imagine a ranch in Jackson Hole as good as R Lazy S! We were considering it a couple years ago but were finally able to go this year. We wish we could have gone there sooner! From the welcome we received from staff and other guests the first evening, to the view out our cabin windows, to the excellently prepared meals three times a day, to the… incredible trail rides on very special horses!... what more could we ask for?! The majesty of the Teton range never gets old, and to be able to observe it throughout the day, with its varying moods and lighting, is truly special. Then what a treat to be able to ride through the different areas within Jackson Hole. Elk and moose abound, and fresh air to spare! But the special ingredient was the owners’ and staff members’ very personal attention to every imaginable detail of our comfort and authentic experience. If you are looking for a week-long change to your daily life, to leave the hustle and bustle behind and go to the sights and sounds of nature and horses, this is the place!

Overall, a very nice trip in a beautiful setting. Organization and communication could have been better. A posted daily schedule of riding activities and dining menu would have been very helpful.

I traveled solo to R Lazy S Ranch. My experience was magical. The staff are the best of the best. The location and views are just incredible. Brad the manager of the barn was so kind, a wealth of information and took us on the most beautiful trails. My horse took excellent care of me on my rides. The chefs make the most delicious food and the serving staff were very attentive. The family that owns and runs the ranch are so sweet and friendly. What an amazing ranch. Grateful they share it with others to enjoy.
