Absolutely the best service I’ve seen at a luxury hotel - we came in after a rainstorm and unfortunately the terrace was closed. Every member of staff was immensely friendly and helpful and they helped us find a wonderful view. They learned it was my wife’s birthday and specially made up a table for us on the terrace as the rain cleared to have a drink. It was honestly unbelievable - I have never seen perfect service top to bottom. The managers should be massively proud of the team they have built. Food and drinks were wonderful of course.

A truly exceptional luxury hotel in San Miguel de Allende, designed and built expressly for this purpose—unlike many others that repurpose existing structures. It preserves the colonial architecture and ambiance with remarkable authenticity, creating an atmosphere that feels both refined and genuinely local. The rooms are outstanding, service is consistently attentive, and the food is excellent. Daytime and nighttime views from the rooftop terrace are extraordinary. Its spacious, diverse, and meticulously maintained gardens deserve special mention. I have stayed here twice, and both visits were truly memorable.

Mixed feelings of overall stay. Property is very nice, but a bit outdated such as hot tub and pool area. Rooms were nice, traditional style, but beds were not very comfortable. For the cost, would be nice to see reinvested. It seems like stayed in the 2000’s. Service is ok at 1826 rest. Lots of older gentleman serving, not many smiles, maybe stuck in old ways. Hotel was at a 30% capacity from what I was told, so expected team to a bit more excited. Have stayed at other 5star hotels in San Miguel and all over the world, my expectation was higher for a place like Rosewood. Luna Rooftop was very nice, pricey for a small drink.

We chose Luna Rooftop to celebrate our anniversary because of its stellar reputation and beautiful setting. We ordered two drinks and settled into conversation, but after about an hour and a half, we realized no one had checked on us. Frustrated, we asked for the check. Nearly a thousand pesos for two drinks, including two hundred pesos for a bottle of water, so we left. Walking through town, we stumbled onto Sollano 18 and ended up having a completely different night. Full dinner, appetizers, warm service, an amazing vibe and a view so close it felt like you could touch the spires of the Parroquia. All for about fifteen hundred pesos. Maybe we just caught Luna on an off night. But even if Luna had been at its best, I'd still say Sollano 18 offers the better overall value. The service, the food, the atmosphere and the view, all came together for a truly memorable experience at a reasonable price. If you're choosing between rooftops in San Miguel, I'd skip the overpriced experiment at Luna and go with Sollano 18 instead. It turned what began as a disappointing anniversary evening into one we'll actually remember fondly.

Verdict: we enjoyed the room and the location, but a few instances completely spoiled our experience. Given the experience, I will never consider Rosewood again. The good: we booked with Amex and because it's low season, we were upgraded to a larger room than the original suite. Beautiful outdoor terrace (although our original booking likely had a better view), spacious, luxurious. The not-so-good: breakfast was not so good. Yes, it's abundant and the quality of ingredients (produce, fruits) were all fine, but taste, not so much. The total-disappointment: we booked a round trip car service to a local winery (15 min away). The wording of the email made us comprehend the cost would be a base cost for round trip + per hour cost for wait time, which amounts to about 5-6 times over taking a uber or taxi. We thought that was reasonable enough and the way (we thought) the cost was structured, made sense. However, we only found out at the end that their interpretation was that their hourly wait time cost was based on total round trip cost (which is already multiple of a uber/taxi cost), which amounted to 12 plus times the taxi. We voiced concerns and how it did not make sense to us, but agreed to pay whatever they asked given that they promised a manager would reach out to me soon afterwards. It's been over 3 weeks, and I have not received a word from anyone from Rosewood. The cost of the car still amounts to a tiny portion over the cost of our stay, but it's never about the money, is it. Unfortunately, given my experience, I do not think the hotel grasped that idea. I had voiced my disappointment over Rosewood's survey, hoping perhaps someone other than their San Miguel property would reach out. Well, that was a naive thought.
