I wasn't sure a Napa trip would work with a 7-month-old, but Carneros turned out to be the best possible choice. From the moment we arrived, every staff member was genuinely warm and gracious with our baby. They had a crib and high chair ready without us asking, and nothing ever felt like an imposition. The concierge team deserves special mention. They were enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and perfectly split their recommendations between adult experiences and family-friendly ones. They even connected us with a wonderful nanny, which let us do a proper wine tasting as a couple: a huge gift on a family trip. The complimentary Alpha Omega tasting was another standout perk. The details are what make this place: breakfast up at the Hilltop Dining Room with those views (the Model Bakery English muffins alone are worth the trip), the best Frosé I've ever had in the tasting room with a fantastic sommelier, and the Coop boutique, which is dangerously good. I could shop there all day. The grounds are 28 acres of gardens, lawns, and vineyards to wander, the children's pool was perfect for our little one while the adult pool looked incredible, and evenings with live music by the restaurant felt magical. Our cottage had a private patio, fireplace, and a deep soaking tub, which is exactly what you want after a day of exploring. We've stayed at other properties in this region, and Carneros is the one we'd choose again without hesitation. We can't wait to come back.
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Carneros Resort and Spa! Breakfast at the Hilltop restaurant was a highlight. It was delicious, plentiful, and a lovely way to start the day. The staff was so attentive and made us feel truly welcome throughout our visit. A wonderful place for a getaway!
Disappointing Experience at Carneros Resort & Spa We recently stayed at Carneros Resort & Spa, where we had reserved a three-bedroom private residence. Unfortunately, what should have been a wonderful luxury resort experience turned into a frustrating disappointment. Upon arrival, we were given a two-bedroom residence instead of the three-bedroom we had booked. When we questioned this, we were told there were no three-bedroom residences available. We actually had to produce documentation proving what we had reserved. Only then were we told to wait while they figured out what to do. After approximately an hour, we were finally placed in what was described as a three-bedroom residence. Unfortunately, the accommodations were far from what we expected. The kitchen refrigerator wasn't working, so there were two full-size refrigerators sitting in the dining room. The outdoor furniture was filthy, and old wedding bouquets were left sitting in water on the kitchen counter. To make matters worse, the so-called third bedroom was actually a den with sliding glass doors and no closet. Hardly what one would expect when booking a luxury three-bedroom residence. I completely understand that reservation mistakes happen. What I find unacceptable is how the resort handled the situation. At no point did management make any meaningful effort to compensate us for the inconvenience or the condition of the accommodations. No rate adjustment, no complimentary night, no gesture of goodwill. Nothing. At the rates Carneros charges, guests should expect not only beautiful accommodations but also exceptional service and attention to detail. Unfortunately, our experience fell well short of those expectations. Luxury pricing should come with luxury service, especially when something goes wrong. Carneros failed on both counts.
A really special place to stay. The staff could not be more attentive. They golf carted us from our rooms to the restaurant. Food was 5-star. We enjoyed chicken and rabbits at their on-site farmhouse. A memorable place to bring the family together!
The grounds are beautiful. The landscaping is well kept and the whole property feels quiet and relaxing. Our room was cozy and comfortable, and the large back porch was a highlight. It was a great place to sit outside in the morning and enjoy your coffee by the fire pit. The biggest issue was the distance between things on the property. Our cottage was pretty far from both the pool, restaurant, and the spa. We called for a golf cart ride but ended up waiting so long that we finally just walked to Hilltop for breakfast. Breakfast itself was nice, but the options were limited unless you paid extra. Most of what was included was pastries, cereal, and fruit. If you want something warm or savory like eggs or bacon, you have to order and pay more. One thing that surprised me was the cleanliness detail in the bathroom. The soap by the sink had visible mold on it, so I couldn’t use it. Overall, the property is beautiful and peaceful, but the service and small details didn’t quite match the luxury expectations.
